Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress

Hello, Spring! See ya later Winter: it’s been a harsh one on the east coast (I mean, snow in March, COME ON) and everyone at the Allmond house is happy to welcome the warmer temperatures + longer days of sunlight. I’m especially excited about getting out more with a certain sassy little two year old. While we definitely aren’t afraid of the cold weather, I do find myself wanting to stay indoors more and Frances is usually just not having it. Case in point.

The thing I love most about spring is that it always feels like a new beginning – there is an anticipation in the air, the start of great things to come. And this spring I’m so happy to announce a photography project that I am embarking on with 12 other photographers across the country all centered around a dress.

This one to be exact:

It started when a Pennsylvania dress shop owner posted a photo of this dress for sale, and well, we all went nuts over it. “My seniors would look gorgeous in this!”, “I want to buy it and wear it myself!”, “I NEED THIS!”. But none of us had the budget to splurge on it, and while it would be gorgeous to take photographs of models in this, it wasn’t the sort of purchase any of us could justify.

So the dress shop owner suggested a different concept: renting the dress. The dress would go on an adventure around the twelve participants and for a small fee we’d all get our shot at photographing #sisterhoodofthedress. In addition to all getting to shoot the dress, we now also had a fun project to follow: twelve photographers shooting essentially the same subject – #thedress – on different models, in different parts of the world, in different circumstances (some of us shoot weddings, others shoot seniors, etc).

And so Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress was born. Myself and the other talented ladies that are involved in this project will be following each other and the dress over the next twelve weeks, and my followers will get to follow along with me!
